Dimin uploads nothing

The short version

Dimin is a desktop compression app for macOS. It has no account, no telemetry, and no cloud. Files are compressed locally on your Mac and are never uploaded anywhere. The one server involved is the license server that checks a purchased key — see the network section below.

What Dimin does with your files

The files you compress are read on your Mac, processed locally, and written back out next to the originals or to a folder you choose. Dimin does not copy them to any other location or send them anywhere.

Watching a folder needs permission to read that folder. macOS asks you to grant access, and you can revoke it any time in System Settings. Without that permission Dimin simply does not see the folder.

The network

Compression itself makes no network calls and works fully offline. Dimin has no telemetry and collects nothing about what you compress.

Three things do touch the network, and each is an action you choose or a feature you use: checking for updates (a normal request to GitHub Releases, which applies its own policy); activating or validating a license key, where the key, an instance name you can edit, and the order's status are processed by our license server and by Waffo Pancake, our merchant of record; and support links you open.

License and purchase data

There are no accounts, so the personal data connected to a purchase is deliberately small: the license key, the order reference and email address held by Waffo Pancake as the merchant of record, and the key plus an instance name recorded when the key activates on a Mac. Card numbers are never seen by us — payment card data is handled exclusively by the PCI-DSS-compliant payment processor, Waffo Pancake.

We do not sell personal information, and there is no marketing list to opt into.

Updates

Dimin checks for updates when you ask it to. That request is a normal network call to GitHub Releases, which applies its own privacy policy.

This website

This site is a static website. It runs no analytics scripts and sets no tracking cookies. It is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which may keep standard access logs (such as IP addresses) as part of its hosting service.

Your rights

You can access, correct, or delete the personal data connected to your purchase, restrict or object to its processing, ask for a portable copy, or withdraw any consent you have given. To exercise any of these, write to support@getdimin.app from the address you used at purchase and say what you need — no forms, no account required.

We answer within 30 calendar days. Because there is no account, "deletion" means deleting the license record: the key, the activation record, and, where Waffo Pancake holds them as merchant of record, the order details — we forward the request to them. Records we must keep for tax or anti-fraud purposes are the only exception, and we say which and why when you ask.

If you are not happy with how a request was handled, you can complain to your local data protection authority; in the EU/UK this right exists alongside the rights above.

Where this page comes from

This is a plain-language description of how Dimin behaves; the behavior it describes ships with the app. The application code is licensed under the GPL-3.0. If a release ever changes how files are handled, the change ships with that release and is noted in the changelog.
